Style recipe for Suno v5
French house
Filter-swept disco-house with vocoder hooks and sidechain pump.
History
French house took shape in France in the 1990s, when producers ran filters and phasers over samples of late-1970s and early-1980s European disco and set them on a steady four-on-the-floor beat at 110-130 BPM. It drew on space disco, big in France thanks to Cerrone, on the P-Funk of George Clinton and Bootsy Collins, and on the jacking side of Chicago house. Thomas Bangalter's tracks for his Roulé label were among the earliest examples, and his work in Daft Punk and Stardust influenced the French house scene; Motorbass built their 1996 album Pansoul on samples and filtered loops. Daft Punk, Cassius and later Stardust were the first to succeed internationally, and Homework entered the UK top ten. The phrase French Touch goes back to 1987 parties at The Palace in Paris, where Laurent Garnier and David Guetta played, and in 1991 Éric Morand printed “We Give a French Touch to House” on a bomber jacket. In the 2000s Bob Sinclar, Étienne de Crécy and Modjo scored European hits, Madonna leaned on the sound for Confessions on a Dance Floor, and a harder mid-2000s wave, French electro, came from Justice and SebastiAn.
