History
Mr. Flash, born Gilles Bousquet, is a French producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist from Paris working in electro and hip hop. He trained in music theory and piano at the French Musical Conservatory and studied drums for a decade at the Tama Drum School, while also working in film production. In 1999 he produced early tracks for Paris hip-hop group TTC, and in 2000 released his debut EP "Le Voyage Fantastique" with Mike Ladd. After meeting Pedro Winter, Daft Punk's manager, in 2003, his track "Radar Rider" became catalog number one on Ed Banger Records, the label that later launched Justice and SebastiAn. He went on to produce tracks on Mos Def's "The Ecstatic" and Sébastien Tellier's "My God Is Blue," and remixed Kanye West's "Paranoid" in 2009. His debut album, "Monsieur Sexe," appeared in 2005, followed by "Sonic Crusader" in 2014. After several years in Los Angeles, he returned to France in 2020 and founded his own label, Heartbreakers Records.
