History
Madeon is the stage name of Hugo Pierre Leclercq, a French musician, DJ, and producer born 30 May 1994 in Nantes, now based in Los Angeles. He started producing music at age 11 and went viral in 2011, at 17, with "Pop Culture," a YouTube video mashing up 39 songs live on a Novation Launchpad, a stunt that made his name almost overnight and remains a touchstone of early electro-house internet fame. His stage name is an anagram of "Deamon," one of his earlier production aliases. Madeon released his debut EP, The City, in 2012, then opened for Lady Gaga's Born This Way Ball tour in 2013. His debut album, Adventure, arrived in 2015, built on the shimmering, maximalist electro-pop sound he helped define. He's also known for "Shelter," a collaboration with childhood friend and fellow producer Porter Robinson. His second album, Good Faith, followed in 2019. In 2017 he placed 105th on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list and was nominated for two Electronic Music Awards alongside Robinson.
