History
Fred Falke (Frédérick Falke, born 1973 in Toulouse, France) is a producer, DJ, and one of the architects of the French Touch sound. Trained as a jazz bassist and pianist, he moved to Paris and met fellow producer Alan Braxe in a record shop; their partnership produced the 2000 filter-disco anthem "Intro," built around a sample of The Jets' "Crush on You," and the 2004 hit "Rubicon," both touchstones of the French house scene alongside Daft Punk and Cassius. The Falke/Braxe duo lasted until 2008 and also yielded remixes for Goldfrapp, Röyksopp, Kelis, and Justice. Falke later worked as a songwriter and producer at the UK's Xenomania studio, writing for Ellie Goulding and Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding, and released solo material including the album Part IV and the synthwave-leaning EP Alpha. A genuinely striking footnote: "Intro" resurfaced at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, and Justice paid tribute to the Falke/Braxe production style on their album Hyperdrama.
