History

SebastiAn is the stage name of Sebastien Akchote-Bozovic, a French producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist born in 1981 in Boulogne-Billancourt and raised between Paris and Belgrade. He emerged in the mid-2000s Paris electro scene after cold-calling Ed Banger Records founder Pedro Winter in 2005 and getting signed without ever having met him. A string of EPs (Smoking Kills, Ross Ross Ross, Walkman 2, Motor) established his glitchy, distortion-heavy electro-house sound, and his remixes of Daft Punk, Kelis, Uffie, and Kavinsky made him one of the era's most sought-after remixers; Daft Punk have named his rework of "Human After All" their favorite remix of their own music. His debut album Total (2011) featured M.I.A. and Mayer Hawthorne. He later produced most of Kavinsky's OutRun (2013), winning a Victoire de la Musique, and worked with Frank Ocean and Charlotte Gainsbourg before returning with the albums Thirst (2019) and Tropic (2023).
