History

Petit Biscuit is the stage name of Mehdi Benjelloun, a French-Moroccan DJ and producer born November 10, 1999, in Rouen, France. He taught himself piano, cello, bass, and guitar before turning to electronic production, posting early tracks on SoundCloud while still a young teenager. His breakthrough came in June 2015, at age 15, with the single "Sunset Lover," which has since passed 350 million streams and became a defining tropical-house track; it is now certified 2x Platinum in Canada. His stage name reportedly comes from his love of the pastries his grandmother baked. He released his self-titled debut EP in 2016 and his first album, "Presence," in 2017, featuring Lido, Bipolar Sunshine, and Cautious Clay; the album earned him a nomination at the Victoires de la Musique, France's equivalent of the Brit Awards. He left university in 2018 to focus on music and played Coachella that same year at age 18. He later launched his own label, Petit Biscuit Music, and released the albums "Parachute" (2020) and "Discipline" (2024). He won the International Dance Music Awards' Best Downtempo Artist prize in both 2019 and 2020.
