Style recipe for Suno v5
Rap Metal
Rap metal from the 1990s: downtuned guitar, hip hop groove, turntable scratch, swaggering and aggressive in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Rap metal fuses hip-hop with heavy metal: metal guitar riffs, funk metal grooves, rapped vocals and sometimes turntables. It came from two directions in the late 1980s, hip-hop acts who sampled metal, such as the Beastie Boys, Run-DMC and Cypress Hill, and rock bands leaning toward hip-hop, such as 24-7 Spyz and Faith No More. Anthrax cut the EP I'm the Man in 1987 and in 1991 remade Public Enemy's Bring the Noise with them; in 1988 Sir Mix-a-Lot and Metal Church released Iron Man, loosely based on the Black Sabbath song. Ice-T formed Body Count in 1990 and played the 1991 Lollapalooza tour with a set half rap, half metal. Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, himself one of the pioneers, still credits Rage Against the Machine with inventing the genre. The style peaked in 1999, when one newspaper summed up the summer as harsh rap-metal and gooey teen pop, and the troubled Woodstock 1999 turned mainstream critics against it. A year later Limp Bizkit's Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water sold over a million US copies in its first week, a record for a rock album, and the sound went on to feed nu metal and trap metal.
