History
Travis Scott, born Jacques Bermon Webster II on April 30, 1991, in Houston, Texas (raised in the suburb of Missouri City), is an American rapper, singer, and producer known for a psychedelic, bass-heavy strain of trap built around dense, atmospheric production and a call-and-response "rager" performance style. He broke through with the mixtapes Owl Pharaoh (2013) and Days Before Rodeo (2014) before releasing the album Rodeo (2015). His major-label albums Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016), Astroworld (2018), and Utopia (2023) all debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Astroworld's single "Sicko Mode," featuring Drake, reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. He runs the label Cactus Jack Records and has partnered with Nike, McDonald's, and Fortnite, where his 2020 in-game concert "Astronomical" drew millions of live viewers. In November 2021, a crowd crush at his Astroworld Festival in Houston killed ten people, a tragedy that led to lawsuits and lasting scrutiny of his live shows.
