History
Comethazine is the stage name Frank Jahmier Childress (born July 6, 1998, in East St. Louis, Illinois) used from around 2015 through 2022 as one of the pioneers of the aggressive, bass-driven strain of SoundCloud rap sometimes called "anti-melody" trap. He started posting music online as a teenager, which let him quit his job as a mechanic. His breakout song "Bands" got an unlikely boost in early 2018 when someone abused a SoundCloud audio-swap exploit to replace YBN Nahmir's viral track "Bounce Out with That" with "Bands," letting it inherit that song's chart momentum. Both "Bands" (RIAA Gold) and the platinum-certified "Walk" appeared on his 2018 debut mixtape Bawskee, which spawned four sequels through 2022. He was named an XXL Freshman in 2019, sharing the cypher with Roddy Ricch and Tierra Whack, and released the albums Pandemic (2020) and Comethazine the Album (2021) on Alamo Records. After 2022 he retired the Comethazine name and now records alternative rock and jazz as Frank Kole.
