History
Yeat, born Noah Olivier Smith on February 26, 2000, in Irvine, California, is an American rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer. He started releasing music as a teenager under the name Lil Yeat in 2015, then debuted his current stage name in 2018 with the track "Brink" on the YouTube channel Elevator, followed by his first mixtape, Deep Blue Strips. He cut his teeth in the online collective Slayworld before breaking out in 2021 with the mixtape 4L and his debut album Up 2 Me, whose tracks "Money So Big" and "Get Busy" went viral on TikTok. Yeat is closely associated with the "rage" sound, built on distorted 808s, dense ad-libs, and his own invented slang, paired with a fashion style mixing designer wear and balaclavas. His albums 2 Alive (2022), Afterlyfe (2023), 2093 and Lyfestyle (both 2024) all landed in the Billboard 200 top five, with Lyfestyle becoming his first number-one album. He also guested on Drake's 2023 hit "IDGAF," which topped the Global 200, and his 2022 single "Rich Minion" spawned the viral "GentleMinions" trend tied to Minions: The Rise of Gru.
