History
NAV (born Navraj Singh Goraya, November 3, 1989, in Toronto, Canada, to parents from Punjab, India) emerged in the mid-2010s as a rapper, singer, and producer working in cloud rap, trap, and moody, melodic hip-hop. He first made his name behind the boards, co-producing Drake's 2015 single "Back to Back," before his own SoundCloud tracks like "Myself" and "Up" caught attention and led to a deal with The Weeknd's XO label and Republic Records via manager Amir "Cash" Esmailian. His biggest production credit is Travis Scott's "Beibs in the Trap" (2016), which went double platinum. NAV released his self-titled debut mixtape and the Metro Boomin collaboration "Perfect Timing" in 2017, followed by the albums "Reckless" (2018) and "Bad Habits" (2019), the latter debuting at number one on the Billboard 200. He has earned several Juno Award nominations and is frequently cited as one of the first Punjabi-Canadian artists to break into mainstream US hip-hop.
