History
Trapt is an American rock band formed in Los Gatos, California, with roots going back to a middle-school NOFX cover band in the mid-1990s. The classic lineup coalesced around vocalist and guitarist Chris Taylor Brown, guitarist Simon Ormandy, bassist Pete Charell, and drummer Aaron Montgomery; since 2021 the band has featured Brown, Charell, guitarist Shawn Sonnenschein, and drummer Mitch Moore. After early rapcore leanings, Trapt settled into a post-grunge, nu metal, and alternative metal sound shaped by Korn, Soundgarden, and Metallica. Their self-titled 2002 major-label debut on Warner Bros. went platinum and produced "Headstrong," a crossover hit that reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 - the band's signature song and biggest commercial success. Trapt has released eight studio albums to date, including "Someone in Control" (2005) and "Only Through the Pain" (2008), and has sold more than 2.5 million records worldwide. In 2003 the band was nominated for a Billboard Music Award for Rock Artist of the Year.
