History
Nickelback is a Canadian post-grunge and hard rock band formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, built around lead vocalist and guitarist Chad Kroeger, rhythm guitarist Ryan Peake, and bassist Mike Kroeger, Chad's brother. The lineup cycled through several drummers before Daniel Adair settled in during the mid-2000s. Signed to Roadrunner Records in 1999, the band broke through in 2002 with "How You Remind Me," a US and Canadian number-one single from the eight-times-platinum album Silver Side Up. Follow-up records kept the hits coming: The Long Road (2003) with "Someday," and 2005's All the Right Reasons, their best-selling album, which spawned "Photograph," "Far Away," and "Rockstar," their biggest UK hit. Later albums include Dark Horse (2008), Here and Now (2011), No Fixed Address (2014), Feed the Machine (2017), and Get Rollin' (2022). Nickelback has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide; Billboard named it the most successful rock act of the 2000s, and the band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2023.
