History
Three Days Grace is a Canadian rock band that formed in Norwood, Ontario, in 1992 under the name Groundswell, disbanding in 1995 and regrouping under its current name in 1997. Based in Toronto, the band built a post-grunge, alternative metal, and hard rock sound. The classic lineup paired frontman Adam Gontier with drummer Neil Sanderson, bassist Brad Walst, and, from 2003, lead guitarist Barry Stock. Their 2003 self-titled debut broke through on the strength of "I Hate Everything About You," followed by the platinum-selling One-X (2006) and its hit "Animal I Have Become." Gontier left in 2013 and was replaced by Walst's younger brother Matt, formerly of My Darkest Days, before rejoining the band alongside Matt as a dual-vocalist lineup in 2024. Loudwire has named Three Days Grace one of the "Big Four" 2000s rock bands alongside Linkin Park, Shinedown, and My Chemical Romance, and both "I Hate Everything About You" and "Animal I Have Become" have each passed one billion Spotify streams, making them the first Canadian band with two songs to hit that mark.
