Mid-90s post-grunge anthem rock from the 1990s: ringing clean arpeggios, chorused crunch guitar, booming tom fills, anthemic and theatrical in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History
Four schoolfriends from York, Pennsylvania, playing together since junior high: Ed Kowalczyk singing, Chad Taylor on guitar, Patrick Dahlheimer on bass, Chad Gracey on drums. Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads produced Mental Jewelry in 1991 and then Throwing Copper in 1994, and the second one behaved unusually. It sold modestly for a year, kept climbing instead of fading, reached number one on the Billboard 200 in the spring of 1995 and passed eight times platinum in the United States. "Lightning Crashes", "I Alone" and "Selling the Drama" carried it. The method is quiet verse into loud chorus, clean arpeggios giving way to a wall, with Kowalczyk declaiming lyrics about birth, death and religion in a voice that never quite relaxes. Secret Samadhi entered at number one in 1997. Kowalczyk left in 2009 and rejoined the others in 2016.
