History
Seether is a rock band formed in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1999, originally performing under the name Saron Gas. After relocating to the United States in 2002, the band renamed itself Seether, borrowing the word from a Veruca Salt song title to avoid confusion with the chemical weapon sarin gas. Frontman Shaun Morgan is the sole remaining original member, joined long-term by bassist Dale Stewart and drummer John Humphrey, with Corey Lowery on lead guitar since 2019. Seether's sound blends post-grunge and alternative metal, built on Morgan's raw, confessional lyrics. The band broke through in the US with "Fine Again" (2002) and reached wider fame with "Broken" (2004), a re-recorded duet with Amy Lee of Evanescence that hit number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Across nine studio albums, Seether has notched roughly ten Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay number-one singles and sold more than 17 million singles worldwide.
