History
Amatory is a Russian metal band formed in Saint Petersburg, with roots going back to 1998 and an official founding date of 2001, built around guitarist Denis "Denver" Zhivotovsky and drummer Daniil "Stewart" Svetlov. Their sound blends nu-metal, metalcore, and alternative rock, and they are regarded as one of the pioneers of Russian alternative metal. The band's core discography spans seven studio albums, including "Fortune on the Run" (2003), "Inevitability" (2004), "The Book of the Dead" (2006), "VII" (2008), "The Instinct of the Doomed" (2010), "6" (2015), and "DOOM" (2019). Their best-known single, "Chyorno-belye dni" ("Black-White Days"), was dedicated to Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell after his 2004 murder, and it swept multiple categories at the 2005 Russian Alternative Music Prize, including Band of the Year. The lineup has changed repeatedly over two decades, and guitarist Sergey "Gang" Osechkin, one of the band's founding members, died of cancer in 2007.
