History
Jane Air is a Russian alternative rock band formed in 1999 in Saint Petersburg. The band's sound blends alternative metal, nu-metal, emo, rap-metal, and post-hardcore, anchored by vocalist Anton Lissov, bassist Sergey Makarov, and guitarist Sergey Grigoriev, who have been together since the earliest lineup; drummer Anton Sagachko joined in 2002, and guitarist Sergey Vyrvich (formerly of the band Pilot) came aboard in 2022. Jane Air debuted in 2002 on the independent label Kapkan Records with "Pull Ya? Let It Doll Go!", pressed in just 1,000 copies, and built momentum through a self-titled 2004 album and 2006's "Pere-Lachaise." Their single "Junk" won the RAMP award for Song of the Year in 2005, and the band later took home a Fuzz magazine prize for best alternative album in 2008. They have opened for Clawfinger, Therapy?, and Linkin Park, and in 2022 "Junk" turned up on the soundtrack of Amazon's "The Boys" during a Russia-set episode — an unusual bit of crossover exposure for a Saint Petersburg rock act.
