History
Psikheya is a Russian rock band formed in 1995 in Kurgan by Dmitry "Feo" Porubov, releasing its debut demo "S.C.O.K." in 1998. After building a following across Siberia and the Urals, the band relocated to Saint Petersburg in 2000, where albums such as "Kazhduyu sekundu prostranstva" (2002) established it as one of the leaders of Russia's alternative scene. Its sound blends alternative metal, nu metal, industrial metal, digital hardcore and rap metal, with the current lineup including Porubov, Andrey "Az" Zyryanov, Evgeny "DJ Zhenya" Lurie, Sergey Egorov, Alexey "Bams" Vasyaev and Vyacheslav Kocharin. In 2005 the band won the Rock Alternative Music Prize for Concert of the Year on Russia's A-One TV channel. The song "Ubey menta" ("Kill the Cop") became a flashpoint: a 2010 Moscow court ruling added it to Russia's Federal List of Extremist Materials, and police have shut down shows after it was performed. Psikheya has shared stages with Korn, Soulfly, Rammstein and Therapy?, and critics often call it the flagship of the Russian alternative scene, credited with starting the country's so-called fourth wave of rock. The band marked its 30th anniversary in 2025.
