History
Smyslovye Gallyutsinatsii ("Semantic Hallucinations," often shortened to "Glyuki") is a Russian rock band from Yekaterinburg. The name was settled on August 21, 1989, and the group joined the Sverdlovsk Rock Club the following year, emerging from the same underground scene that produced Nautilus Pompilius and Chaif. Its sound moved across post-punk, indie rock, alternative rock, gothic rock, electronic rock and pop rock over the years, fronted throughout by singer-guitarist Sergei "Buba" Bobunets. The debut album "Razluka NOW" (1996) was a conscious tribute to Nautilus Pompilius. National fame arrived with the singles "Rozovye Ochki" and "Vechno Molodoy," both placed on the "Brat 2" (Brother 2) film soundtrack in 2000, the same year the album "3000" made the band a household name in Russia. They won two Golden Gramophone Awards (2002, 2003). The classic lineup, stable from 2008, included Bobunets, Konstantin Lekomtsev, Evgeny Gantimurov and Nikolai Rotov. After ten studio albums, the band split in 2017; founding member Alexander Kolbasov died in Yekaterinburg in December 2023.
