Style recipe for Suno v5
Speed Metal
Fast speed metal from the 1980s: rapid riffs, double kick, tight snare, aggressive and triumphant in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Speed metal took shape in the late 1970s out of the new wave of British heavy metal, which toned down the blues, borrowed from punk and pushed the tempo. Its name traces to Deep Purple's Speed King, recorded from 1969, almost a decade before the style was recognised, and on the title track of Fireball Ian Paice's uptempo double bass drum set a pattern that heavy, speed and thrash metal leaned on for years. Motörhead are often credited as the first band to play it, though Lemmy preferred to call his music plain rock and roll. Queen's Stone Cold Crazy, later covered by Metallica, and Black Sabbath's Symptom of the Universe sit among its early signs. Speed metal is faster than traditional heavy metal yet more melodic and less punk-driven than thrash, with short guitar solos squeezed between verses. One view holds that the genre fully formed on Heavy Metal Maniac (1983) by the Canadian band Exciter. In the 1980s the term actually covered what is now called thrash; today's boundaries were drawn only in the 1990s. Speed metal fed both thrash and power metal, and Helloween's early albums, starting with Walls of Jericho, sit right on that border.
