Style recipe for Suno v5
Melodic death metal
Melodic death metal from the 1990s: tremolo guitars, blast beat drums, double kick, menacing and aggressive in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Melodic death metal keeps death metal's growls, heavily distorted guitars and fast double-bass drumming and lays harmonized guitar leads from traditional heavy metal over them. England's Carcass pointed the way with Heartwork in 1993, but the style was made by the Swedish scene around Gothenburg. In the mid-1990s At the Gates released Slaughter of the Soul, In Flames made The Jester Race with riffs drawn from Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, and Dark Tranquillity put out The Gallery; those three records defined the sound. The scene was tiny. Dark Tranquillity singer Mikael Stanne recalled that members of all three bands rode the same bus route into the city, then sat in a park with a tape recorder and tons of beer. Songs leaned on verse and chorus, and clean singing crept in beside the screams. Finland's Children of Bodom mixed in power metal, and In Flames reached a wider audience with Reroute to Remain in 2002. America echoed louder: so many bands copied Slaughter of the Soul that the phrase At the Gates worship came into use, and melodic metalcore acts such as Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying and Bullet for My Valentine built their success on that template.
