Style recipe for Suno v5
Glam Rock
Glam rock from the 1970s: glitter electric guitar, stomping bass drum, handclap layers, theatrical and swaggering in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Glam rock came out of the English psychedelic and art-rock scenes of the late 1960s, half an extension of them and half a reaction against them. Its usual starting point is March 1971, when T. Rex frontman Marc Bolan sang Hot Love on Top of the Pops in glitter and satin; the song became his first UK number one. At its core the music was simple: stomping rhythms, brash hard-rock riffs, bubblegum hooks and high, double-tracked vocals. From late 1971 David Bowie built his Ziggy Stardust persona out of makeup and mime, and Roxy Music, Sweet, Mott the Hoople and Slade followed; Slade alone had six UK number ones. From 1971 to 1975 glam flooded the British charts, while America had a smaller scene around Alice Cooper, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop. After seeing Bolan in Zandra Rhodes outfits, Freddie Mercury hired Rhodes to design costumes for Queen's 1974 tour. Bolan himself declared glam rock dead on the cover of Melody Maker in 1973, and punk ended the fashion from about 1976, but the makeup and theatre passed into gothic rock and the new romantics, and the heavier riffs into Kiss, Twisted Sister and Mötley Crüe.
