Truly
Grunge from the 1990s: fuzzed power-chord guitar, melodic bass, hard-hitting drums, raw and defiant in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History
Truly formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990, built around singer-guitarist Robert Roth, whose bandmates were already indie-rock royalty: bassist Hiro Yamamoto, a founding member of Soundgarden, and drummer Mark Pickerel, a founding member of Screaming Trees. Roth had actually auditioned to play guitar for Nirvana shortly before, but that band chose to stay a trio. Truly debuted on Sub Pop with the EP Heart and Lungs (1991) and played the Lollapalooza side stage in 1992. Signed to Capitol Records, they released the acclaimed Fast Stories...from Kid Coma (1995), a loosely conceptual album AllMusic gave four and a half stars; it later placed No. 3 on Alternative Nation's list of underrated 1990s alternative-rock records. After parting ways with Capitol, Truly moved to independent label Thick Records for Feeling You Up (1997) before splitting in 1998. A compilation of unreleased material, Twilight Curtains, appeared in Europe in 2000. The band reunited in 2008 and released the single "Wheels on Fire" in 2018. Truly never matched the commercial profile of their Seattle peers but is regarded as an underrated fixture of the post-grunge alternative scene.
