History
Troye Sivan Mellet (born 5 June 1995 in Johannesburg, South Africa) moved to Perth, Western Australia, as a toddler and built his career there before breaking through internationally in the 2010s. He first performed at Perth's Channel Seven Telethon as a child and grew a following on YouTube before signing to EMI Australia in 2013. His EP TRXYE (2014), led by "Happy Little Pill," debuted at number 5 on the US Billboard 200. His debut album, Blue Neighbourhood (2015), produced the platinum single "Youth," his first Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hit. Sivan's sound blends synth-pop and electropop with candid, confessional lyrics, often addressing his experience as an openly gay artist; his 2018 single "My My My!" and album Bloom leaned further into that openness. He has collaborated with Ariana Grande ("Dance to This") and Martin Garrix ("There for You"). His 2023 album Something to Give Each Other topped Australia's ARIA chart and earned three Grammy nominations. Sivan is also an actor, having played the young Wolverine in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and earned a Golden Globe nomination for the song "Revelation."
