History
Sia Kate Isobelle Furler was born on 18 December 1975 in Adelaide, Australia. She began singing in the Adelaide acid-jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s before moving to London, where she sang backing vocals for Jamiroquai and Zero 7 while releasing solo albums that drew little attention. Her 2004 song "Breathe Me" found a wider audience after closing the HBO series finale of Six Feet Under in 2005, and she went on to write hits for other artists, including Rihanna's "Diamonds." Her 2014 album 1000 Forms of Fear, led by the single "Chandelier," became her commercial breakthrough, topping the US Billboard 200 and earning two Grammy nominations; "Chandelier" has since been certified Diamond by the RIAA for over 10 million units sold. Notably, Sia promoted the album while hiding her face behind an oversized wig and performing with her back to the audience, turning anonymity into a signature persona. She scored a US number-one with "Cheap Thrills" (2016) and later formed the supergroup LSD with Diplo and Labrinth.
