History
Pink, born Alecia Beth Moore on September 8, 1979, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, emerged from Philadelphia's club scene as a teenager before joining the short-lived R&B trio Choice, which signed to LaFace Records in 1995. Her 2000 debut, Can't Take Me Home, produced by Babyface, delivered the Top 10 hits "There You Go" and "Most Girls" in a contemporary R&B style. She broke through further in 2001 with "Lady Marmalade," her chart-topping collaboration with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, and Mya for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack, which won a Grammy. That same year she pivoted to pop rock on Missundaztood, a 13-million-selling album featuring "Get the Party Started," "Don't Let Me Get Me," and "Just Like a Pill." Later albums I'm Not Dead (2006) and Funhouse (2008) added the US No. 1 single "So What." Known for her acrobatic aerial stage shows, Pink has sold over 135 million records worldwide, was named Billboard's Pop Songs Artist of the 2000s Decade, and holds three Grammy Awards; in 2026 she received a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination.
