History
Kesha Rose Sebert, known simply as Kesha, is an American pop singer-songwriter born March 1, 1987, in Los Angeles, California. She broke through in 2009 with guest vocals on Flo Rida's "Right Round," then launched her own career with the single "Tik Tok," one of the best-selling digital singles of its era, followed by her debut album "Animal" (2010). Her early sound mixed dance-pop, electropop, and party-anthem hooks with heavy autotune, on hits like "Your Love Is My Drug," "We R Who We R," and the Pitbull collaboration "Timber" (2013), which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. A years-long legal battle with producer Dr. Luke kept her out of the studio for a time before she returned with "Rainbow" (2017), a more rock- and country-tinged record whose lead single "Praying" earned a Grammy nomination and was widely praised as her most personal work. She later left Dr. Luke's label to release music independently.
