History
Kylie Minogue was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1968 and broke through as an actress on the soap opera Neighbours before launching a music career in 1987 with a chart-topping cover of "The Loco-Motion." Signed to the UK production team Stock Aitken Waterman, she became a fixture of British dance-pop with albums like Kylie (1988) and hits such as "I Should Be So Lucky" and "Better the Devil You Know," relocating her career base to the UK. After leaving SAW in 1992 she reinvented her sound repeatedly, peaking commercially in the 2000s with the album Fever (2001) and its global single "Can't Get You Out of My Head." She won a Grammy Award in 2004 for "Come into My World" and a second in 2024 for "Padam Padam." With eight UK number-one singles and over 80 million records sold worldwide, she is one of the best-selling female artists in UK chart history. In 2020, DISCO made her the first woman to top the UK albums chart in five consecutive decades; she was made an OBE in 2008.
