History
Sugababes formed in London in 1998 as a teenage trio: Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhán Donaghy. Their 2000 debut album One Touch, led by the UK top-ten single "Overload," blended R&B, garage and pop with a moody, understated edge unusual for a girl group. Donaghy left in 2001 and was replaced by Heidi Range; this lineup released three multi-platinum albums, including Taller in More Ways (2005), the group's first UK number one, powered by the five-country chart-topper "Push the Button." Buena departed in 2005 (replaced by Amelle Berrabah) and Buchanan, the last original member, left in 2009 (replaced by Jade Ewen), giving Sugababes an unusual history of a constantly rotating lineup under one name. They notched more UK top-ten singles than any British girl group except the Spice Girls, and won a Brit Award for Best British Dance Act in 2003. After a 2011 hiatus, the original trio reunited as Mutya Keisha Siobhán before reclaiming the Sugababes name in 2019, releasing new material into 2025.
