History
Miley Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus, November 23, 1992, in Franklin, Tennessee) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress, and the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. She became a teen idol at 13 starring in Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" (2006-2011), which spun off multiple soundtrack albums. Her solo career launched with "Meet Miley Cyrus" (2007) and "Breakout" (2008), both US number-one albums, followed by the pop-rock hit "Party in the U.S.A." (2009). She shifted toward a rawer pop-rock sound with "Bangerz" (2013) and its chart-topping single "Wrecking Ball," then explored psychedelic and country-inflected styles on later records. In 2023, "Flowers" became her second US number-one single, staying atop the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks and winning her first two Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year. She later won a third Grammy for featuring on Beyoncé's "II Most Wanted." Beyond music, she founded the Happy Hippie Foundation in 2014 to support homeless and LGBTQ youth, and was named a Disney Legend in 2024.
