History
Lil Baby, born Dominique Armani Jones on December 3, 1994, grew up in the Oakland City neighborhood of Southwest Atlanta, Georgia. He dropped out of high school and cycled through arrests as a teenager, then served a roughly two-year prison stint starting in 2015 for a probation violation. It was behind bars that Quality Control Music executives Pee and Coach K convinced him to try rapping. Released in 2017, he put out his first mixtape, Perfect Timing, within months, followed by a run of trap-leaning tapes. His 2018 debut album Harder Than Ever produced the Drake-featuring hit "Yes Indeed," and the Gunna collaboration Drip Harder gave him another top-ten single, "Drip Too Hard." His second album, My Turn (2020), went triple-platinum and became the best-selling album of that year in the US. He won a Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance on "Hurricane" with Kanye West and The Weeknd, and his 2022 album It's Only Me was his third straight number-one on the Billboard 200. In 2023 he launched the label Glass Window Entertainment as a Motown/Capitol imprint.
