History
Charlotte Day Wilson is a Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born April 17, 1993, in Toronto, Ontario. Working in contemporary R&B, soul, and pop, she taught herself production on GarageBand as a teenager after early classical piano training, then studied music in Halifax before leaving school to pursue music full time. After the 2012 self-released EP Palimpsest and time in the funk band The Wayo, she returned to Toronto and, through an internship at Arts & Crafts Productions, began collaborating with Daniel Caesar, River Tiber, and BadBadNotGood. Her 2016 EP CDW carried the breakout single "Work," longlisted for the Polaris Music Prize and winner of the 2018 Prism Prize for its music video. The 2018 EP Stone Woman followed; its track "Falling Apart" was later sampled on James Blake's "I Keep Calling." Her debut album Alpha (2021) earned three Juno nominations, and 2024's Cyan Blue, released on XL Recordings, brought a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. In 2025 she also opened a panini shop, Tutto Panino, in Toronto's Roncesvalles neighborhood.
