History
bbno$ (stylized with a dollar sign, pronounced "baby no money") is the stage name of Alexander Leon Gumuchian, a Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter born June 30, 1995, in Vancouver, British Columbia. After a back injury ended his competitive swimming ambitions, he started making beats with friends in 2014 under the short-lived group Broke Boy Gang, then launched a solo SoundCloud rap career in 2016. His music blends deliberately absurd, self-deprecating lyrics with playful, genre-hopping production built around percussion, brass, and hooky melodies. He first built a large following in China before breaking through worldwide in 2019 with "Lalala" (featuring Y2K), which has passed a billion streams. He followed with 2021's "Edamame" alongside Rich Brian and frequent collaborator Yung Gravy, with whom he performs as the duo Baby Gravy. In 2025 he released a self-titled ninth album and won a Juno Fan Choice Award, and has since said he plans to step back from music.
