History
A Boogie wit da Hoodie, born Artist Julius Dubose on December 6, 1995, is an American rapper and singer from the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City. His sound blends melodic, sing-rap hooks with hip-hop and R&B influences, a style that helped define the late-2010s New York rap wave. He began writing rhymes as a young teen, returned to the Bronx in 2015 after a stint in Florida, and co-founded the label Highbridge the Label with rapper Quincy "QP" Acheampong. His 2016 mixtape Artist launched his career, and after signing with Atlantic Records he broke through with the triple-platinum single "Drowning" and the 2017 album The Bigger Artist. Its 2018 follow-up, Hoodie SZN, topped the Billboard 200, and 2020's Artist 2.0 debuted at number two. His stage name comes from the Paid in Full character "Ace Boogie" combined with his habit of always wearing hoodies. He has also appeared on-screen in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023).
