History
Aarne is the stage name of Mircea Papusoi (born March 25, 2001, in Bucharest), a Moldovan-Romanian record producer who spent his teenage years in Moscow before relocating to London around 2018. He started making beats in the mid-2010s, working at the intersection of trap, hip-hop, and melodic Russian-language rap. His breakthrough came through an unlikely connection: an American manager he hired turned out to be a cousin of Atlanta rapper Lil Keed, which led to production credits on Keed's 2020 album Trapped on Cleveland 3, a Billboard 200 charting release. Aarne's biggest project is AA Language (2022), a compilation-style album built around his own production and guest vocals from a large roster of Russian-scene rappers including Feduk, Morgenshtern, Big Baby Tape, Markul, and Eldzhey; it topped the Apple Music chart, with the single "Tesno" reaching number one. A sequel, AA Language 2, followed in 2023. He has also collaborated internationally, including the 2023 single "Ice" with Grammy-winning producer Imanbek and rapper NLE Choppa.
