Style recipe for Suno v5
Post-Disco
Post-disco boogie from the 1980s: synth bass, drum machine, electric piano, swaggering and warm in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Post-disco names the music that filled the gap between the American backlash against disco, which boiled over into a riot on July 12, 1979, at Disco Demolition Night in Chicago, and the rise of house. The term is older than the riot: an Associated Press editor used it in a June 1979 headline about the band Foxy. With disco labels such as Casablanca and RSO bankrupt, an underground scene around New York stripped the sound down, drawing on the funk of Parliament-Funkadelic, the electronic side of disco and dub techniques; D Train and Unlimited Touch took the urban route, Material and ESG the experimental one. Drum machines, synthesizers and Minimoog basslines pushed out strings and horns, though soulful female vocals stayed, and in 1984 Cadence magazine summed it up as disco without the loud bass-drum thump. It was a singles market run by independent labels, producers and club DJs. Michael Jackson's Off the Wall, produced by Quincy Jones, guided young producers, and Eumir Deodato steered Kool & the Gang to the biggest hits of their career. The sound fed dance-pop, Italo disco, house and techno, and returned in Daft Punk's Discovery in 2001 and the 2004 debut of Chromeo.
