Style recipe for Suno v5
Horrorcore
Horrorcore rap from the 1990s: dissonant string stabs, detuned sub bass, horror film sample, menacing and theatrical in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Horrorcore is hip-hop that takes its script from horror films: the violence in the lyrics goes past street realism into the gruesome, the supernatural and the psychological, over moody hardcore beats that often borrow from horror scores. The rapper Mars summed up his own music as Stephen King or Wes Craven thrown on a rap beat. Its roots reach back to Jimmy Spicer's 1980 single Adventures of Super Rhyme, with its long encounter with Dracula, and to 1988, when DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince met Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on My Street. The Geto Boys' 1991 album We Can't Be Stopped carried the paranoid track Chuckie. Detroit's Esham debuted in 1989. Kool Keith claimed he invented horrorcore, but the word first appears on a 1991 KMC album. The style broke wider in 1994 with Flatlinerz and Gravediggaz, and in 1995 Three 6 Mafia released Mystic Stylez while Bone Thugs-N-Harmony filled E. 1999 Eternal with occult tales. In Detroit horrorcore became the dominant local style, home to Insane Clown Posse and Eminem, and since 2003 its artists have put out a free Halloween compilation, Devilz Nite. In Russian rap, Pharaoh is counted as close to the genre.
