History
Five rappers from the east side of Cleveland: Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone and Flesh-n-Bone. They got their deal after tracking down Eazy-E in 1993, and Ruthless Records put out Creepin on ah Come Up in 1994. The method was unusual for the time. Instead of one voice riding the beat, all of them sang and rapped in harmony at sixteenth-note speed, handing half-bars to each other. DJ U-Neek built most of the beds: minor key, heavy organ, thick bass. E. 1999 Eternal (1995) carried "Tha Crossroads", which went to number one and won a Grammy in 1997. The double album The Art of War followed the same year. What the group did with harmony, singing hook and verse in the same breath, arrived years before anyone had a name for melodic rap.
