History
Xzibit (born Alvin Nathaniel Joiner, September 18, 1974) is an American rapper who grew up in Detroit and Albuquerque before relocating to Los Angeles in his late teens, where he joined the Likwit Crew alongside The Alkaholiks and King Tee. He debuted in 1996 with "At the Speed of Life" on Loud Records, followed by "40 Dayz & 40 Nightz" (1998). His profile rose sharply after Dr. Dre signed on as executive producer for "Restless" (2000), which went platinum and featured Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg; "Man vs. Machine" (2002) later reached number three on the Billboard 200. His signature West Coast sound blends a gritty, deep-voiced delivery with Dre-era production. Beyond music, Xzibit became a household name hosting MTV's "Pimp My Ride" (2004-2007) and has appeared in films including "8 Mile," "The X-Files: I Want to Believe," and the series "Empire." Since 2013 he has recorded as part of the hip-hop trio Serial Killers. Trivia: his 2000 breakout single "X" charted higher in the UK (No. 14) and Germany (No. 4) than in the US.
