History
Tha Eastsidaz is a West Coast hip hop trio from Long Beach, California, formed by Snoop Dogg, Tray Deee, and Goldie Loc in 1999 after Snoop left Death Row Records. The lineup grew out of an earlier, short-lived 1997 crew called The Eastsiders, which included Crooked I and had contributed the Battlecat-produced "Feels So Good" to the soundtrack of the film Ride. Signed to Snoop's Doggy Style Records, the trio blends gangsta rap with heavy G-funk production. Their 2000 debut, Snoop Dogg Presents Tha Eastsidaz, went platinum and won New Artist of the Year, Group at the 2000 Source Awards; the 2001 follow-up, Duces 'n Trayz: The Old Fashioned Way, was certified gold. The group also appeared on Snoop's hit 'Lay Low' and the Bones soundtrack, and starred in the low-budget, direct-to-video film Tha Eastsidaz, which went on to sell double platinum on home video despite its minimal budget. Internal disputes over money split the group after 2003, and Tray Deee's later incarceration kept them apart for years. They reunited for live shows in 2014 and again around 2022, releasing the EP Still Easty on Death Row Records in 2024.
