Westside Connection
G-funk from the 1990s: whining synth lead, deep moog bass, funk samples, swaggering and warm in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
Style: G-funk
History
Westside Connection is an American hip-hop supergroup formed in Los Angeles in 1995 by Ice Cube, Mack 10, and WC. Rooted in West Coast hip-hop, gangsta rap, and G-funk, the trio first rapped together on Mack 10's "Westside Slaughterhouse" and WC's "West Up!" before releasing their debut album, Bow Down, on October 22, 1996. The record hit number two on the Billboard 200 and went platinum, driven by its combative title single aimed at rival East Coast rappers. Seven years later the group returned with Terrorist Threats (2003), led by "Gangsta Nation," a Fredwreck-produced track featuring Nate Dogg that became one of their best-known songs. Westside Connection also turned up on film soundtracks and, unexpectedly, on Mariah Carey's 2002 single "Irresistible." Mack 10 left the group in 2005 after a falling-out with Ice Cube, ending the act for good; Mack 10 has since said he holds the trademark to the group's name. Reunion talk has surfaced periodically but never materialized.
