History
WC, born William Lashawn Calhoun Jr. on February 3, 1970, in Houston, Texas, grew up in South Los Angeles and became a fixture of West Coast hip-hop, gangsta rap, and G-funk. He started in 1987 alongside DJ Aladdin in the duo Low Profile, then formed WC and the Maad Circle with Coolio, Big Gee, and his younger brother DJ Crazy Toones, scoring with "Ain't a Damn Thang Changed" (1991) and "Curb Servin'" (1995). His solo debut, The Shadiest One (1998), cracked the pop Top 20, followed by Ghetto Heisman (2002), Guilty by Affiliation (2007, featuring Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and The Game), and Revenge of the Barracuda (2011). In 1996 he co-founded the supergroup Westside Connection with Ice Cube and Mack 10; their debut Bow Down went platinum and hit number 2 on the Billboard 200, while 2003's Terrorist Threats produced the Nate Dogg-featured "Gangsta Nation." A notable bit of trivia: WC later worked as a dialect coach, teaching actor Damson Idris an authentic Los Angeles accent for the FX series Snowfall, in which WC also appeared.
