Irish delay-drenched stadium rock from the 1980s: dotted-eighth delay guitar, ringing open arpeggios, martial floor toms, anthemic and spacious in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History

In 1976 drummer Larry Mullen Jr. pinned a note to a school noticeboard in Dublin, and three teenagers answered it. Paul Hewson became Bono, David Evans became the Edge, Adam Clayton took the bass. Boy (1980) and October came first, but War (1983) put the band on radio worldwide with "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "New Year's Day". Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois arrived for The Unforgettable Fire (1984) and pulled everything toward atmosphere and space. The Joshua Tree (1987) brought the two strands together and took Album of the Year at the Grammys. The engine of it is the Edge's guitar: a dotted-eighth delay repeat that turns a handful of notes into a ringing lattice, with almost no distortion doing the work, just repetition and chime. Underneath sit Clayton's plain root-note bass and Mullen's military snare. Live Aid in 1985 built the live reputation. Achtung Baby (1991) later tore the formula apart and rebuilt it with dirt and irony.
