History
SZA, born Solána Imani Rowe on November 8, 1989, in St. Louis, Missouri, grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey. After building a following with two self-released EPs, she signed to Top Dawg Entertainment in 2013, releasing the lo-fi, psychedelic EP Z in 2014. Her diaristic songwriting and genre-blending style, mixing R&B, hip-hop, and pop, made her a defining figure in alternative R&B. Her debut album Ctrl (2017) was widely acclaimed, followed by high-profile collaborations including "All the Stars" with Kendrick Lamar (2018), which earned Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations, and "Kiss Me More" with Doja Cat (2021), which brought her first Grammy. Her second album, SOS (2022), became the first album by a woman to spend 100 weeks in the Billboard 200's top ten. Its single "Kill Bill" hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and ranked as the third best-selling song of 2023. She has won seven Grammy Awards and, in 2025, co-headlined the Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar, the highest-grossing co-headlining tour in history.
