6LACK (born Ricardo Valdez Valentine Jr., June 24, 1992) is an American R&B singer born in Baltimore, Maryland, who moved to Atlanta as a child. He broke through in 2016 with the single "Prblms" and his debut album Free 6lack, released on LVRN and Interscope. His sound is moody, minimal alt-R&B built on restrained vocals over sparse, reverb-heavy production. His 2018 follow-up, East Atlanta Love Letter, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and went gold, featuring guests like J. Cole and Future. He has cited Sade and The-Dream as influences.
