History

Post Malone, born Austin Richard Post on July 4, 1995, in Syracuse, New York, grew up in Grapevine, Texas, before building his career in Los Angeles starting in 2011. His sound blends hip-hop, pop, trap, R&B, country, and rock, a mix rooted in his father's eclectic record collection. He broke through in 2015 with the cloud rap single "White Iverson," which led to a deal with Republic Records and his 2016 debut album Stoney. His second album, Beerbongs & Bentleys (2018), topped the Billboard 200 and produced the number-one hits "Rockstar" and "Psycho," while "Sunflower," his duet with Swae Lee for the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack, became the first song to earn a 2x Diamond RIAA certification. Hollywood's Bleeding (2019) followed with "Circles," which spent 61 weeks on the Hot 100. In 2024 he pivoted toward country music with F-1 Trillion. One quirky fact: as a teenager he auditioned as guitarist for the metalcore band Crown the Empire but was rejected after his strings broke mid-audition.
