History
Roddy Ricch (born Rodrick Wayne Moore Jr., October 22, 1998) is an American rapper and singer from Compton, California. He began posting music to SoundCloud in 2016 and released his debut mixtape, Feed Tha Streets, in 2017, followed by Feed Tha Streets II in 2018, which produced his first Billboard Hot 100 entry, "Die Young." His profile rose sharply in 2019 through guest verses on Nipsey Hussle's "Racks in the Middle" (which won a Best Rap Performance Grammy) and Mustard's "Ballin'." That December he released his debut studio album, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, on Atlantic Records, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Its single "The Box" topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eleven weeks and became the most-streamed song and album combination globally in 2020, earning three Grammy nominations. His style blends West Coast storytelling with Southern trap cadences and a melodic, half-sung flow. Trivia: "The Box" was reportedly the last track finished for the album, recorded in about fifteen minutes during an overnight New York session.
