History
Overseer is the alias of English DJ and producer Robert George Howes, who has released electronic music since the mid-1990s, starting with the EPs The Zeptastic (1995) and Hit the Tarmac (1997) on the Soundclash label. Working mainly in big beat, breakbeat and house, Overseer built a career less on chart hits than on sync placements: his tracks scored soundtracks for Blade: Trinity, The Animatrix, Snatch and Any Given Sunday, and turned up in video games including Gran Turismo 3, Need for Speed: Underground and SSX 3. His debut album, Wreckage (2003, Columbia), reached number 21 on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. A genuinely odd piece of trivia: the track "Slayed" became a UFC walkout song, used by fighters Ken Shamrock, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Keith Jardine. Howes also records as Fatlantic and, with singer Rachael Gray, as Kanute. He briefly retired the Overseer name in 2018 before returning in 2019, and in 2024 released "Firing Squad" featuring Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man.
