History
The Crystal Method is an American electronic music duo formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1993 by Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan. Their sound blends big beat, breakbeat, and electronic dance music, built around heavy samples, distorted synth riffs, and club-ready energy. Their 1997 debut album, Vegas, spawned the singles "Keep Hope Alive," "(Can't You) Trip Like I Do," "Busy Child," and "Comin' Back"; it went gold in 1998 and platinum in 2007, making it one of the first platinum-certified albums by an American electronic act. They followed with Tweekend (2001), Legion of Boom (2004), Divided by Night (2009), and the self-titled The Crystal Method (2014). Legion of Boom earned a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album the first year that category existed, and Divided by Night was nominated again. In 2017 Ken Jordan retired from music, and Scott Kirkland has continued performing and recording solo under the Crystal Method name, including a 2017 tour with the band Tool.
